Our lives need to be a balance. Although we want you to succeed at your studies, we honestly do not want you to turn into an overworked and unbalanced human being. A life without balance is unbalanced and pretty much unhappy. Sounds pretty simple right? No. You'd think the world would got this right a long time ago, right? No. You'd not be wrong for thinking that working hard for too many hours a day, and neglecting the rest of your life is really how it should be, right? No. And again I say no. Sjoe, this lady is pretty weird hey? We're meant to learn how to study 24 hours a day and make the rest of our lives a complete haze of a memory. No.
As adults we often make a huge miss on this goal ... a balanced life. And if there is ONE thing I want you to take from this is that you need BALANCE in your life. Because one day you will be that adult that is working, making choices with your finances, getting married, having kids, pursuing a career. And rather learn from our mistakes than make them and suffer the consequences later on.
Consequences. Hmmm. What could that be? What you put in, is what you get out, right? Yes. No. Both. You put in everything into your studies or work (which will replace your study life later on), and neglect your health, your family, other relationships, resting ... you will get out a higher grade, a well-deserved promotion. BUT! All at the expense of a great relationship with your sister, brother, mom, dad, girlfriend, boyfriend because you just do not have time for them. BUT! All at the expense of your health because you forget you need to get out and take a walk, pursue a hobby you enjoy, go to gym, talk to friends, eat good food and sleep enough to be have a healthy strong mind.
What is it to live, if it is not to have a life that is balanced and includes things you have to do, but must schedule time for (rock priorities) and enjoy doing and also schedule time for it (pebble priorities), and then all the other little things that fall in between those priorities (sand priorities). You got to have both - what you must do and what you enjoy.
With that said, we are now going to take a look at establishing what are your priorities. No use all this talk about balance and I don't even show you to figure out that balance, right? Amen! :)
